Electromobility means that vehicles have higher axle loads because of the batteries. At the same time, the installation space in the chassis area is becoming tighter. As a result, the demands on the mechanical properties of the complexly shaped components for the chassis frame are becoming ever higher.
In order to meet future requirements for the production of components for electric vehicles, Salzgitter Hydroforming GmbH & Co. KG has put into operation a hydroforming press with a clamping force of 5,000 tons.
The machine has been producing since 2021 and is currently being upgraded into an even more efficient, fully automated manufacturing line for structural components. With new line Salzgitter Hydroforming sets a benchmark in forming chassis and body components and is ready to support its customers on the road to electromobility in an optimal way.
