Carrying the crash load of a whole vehicle is probably the most challenging task for a hydroformed component. An A-Pillar of a convertable car must withstand such a rollover impact. A special hydroformed component using a tailored tube with variable wall thickness and diameter as semi-finished product does not only provide an outstanding crash-performance. It also contributes to light weight construction by reducing the weight of the tube itself and with the reduction of the number of components needed for the assembly.
